Description:The Emerging ICT for Competitive Advantage Briefing is a half-day presentation designed to enhance delegates’ appreciation of the latest trends in Information and Communications Technology, as well as developments that are ‘on the horizon’ and may have significant business implications in the medium term. The presentation starts by considering a current generic IT system architecture, placing leading-edge and future development in the context of that structure. It then proceeds to outline the essentials of each of the latest areas of development; these include Wireless, digital signatures, open-source software and Linux, component software and web-system ‘hacking’. Finally, there is a section on technologies and trends that may prove significant within the decade; examples include quantum computing (which may revolutionise cryptography), nanotechnology and 4G wireless. The entire presentation considers much more than the status quo: it consistently looks forward to new technologies and trends, and their likely impact on the enterprise.
